Applicants Registered in Other Jurisdictions
There are two levels of registration with the NLPB - Full Registration and Provisional
Registration. Psychologists who are fully registered may practice independently.
Provisionally registered psychologists may practice only under the supervision of
a fully registered psychologist. Provisional status is indicated on the certificate
of registration and it is the responsibility of the provisionally registered psychologist
to indicate his or her status to the public and to clients at all times. Individuals
registered in other jurisdictions may be eligible for fast track procedures.
APPLICANTS REGISTERED IN CANADA or UNITED STATES OF AMERICA
Applicants who are hold registration / licensure as a Psychologist in other jurisdictions
may be eligible for fast-track procedures. Supporting documentation is required
at the time of application.
Candidates already registered as a Psychologist in other Canadian jurisdictions
may be registered under fast track procedures as defined in the Agreement on Internal
Trade (AIT). Required documentation is outlined in Sections 1 and 3 of the Application
Form.
Candidates already registered as a Psychologist in United States of America jurisdictions
may be eligible for fast-track procedures as well. Required documentation is outlined
in Sections 1 and 3 of the Application Form.
OTHER JURISDICTIONS
While the board has registered Psychologists from a number of jurisdictions around
the world, it is the responsibility of the applicant to show that their credentials
meet those specified in the Psychologists Act (2005). In particular, the board requires
evidence that degrees are equivalent in level and content of acceptable degrees
in Canada. Candidates who are seeking registration from other jurisdictions should contact the Registrar.
